A Connie’s Skin guide

How to organize the skincare products you already own

Before adding another product to a shopping list, check the bathroom drawer, the travel bag, and the unopened box at the back of the cupboard.

You can make a useful skincare inventory with a sheet of paper. The aim is to answer a few everyday questions: Do I already own this? Where is it? Is it part of a routine I actually use?

  1. Gather the products you own

Include spares, samples, and travel sizes. Keep the packaging nearby while you make the list; names that seem obvious now can be hard to tell apart later.

Record the brand and full product name. Add the size if you own more than one version. “Cleanser, 30 ml, travel bag” is more useful than “the little blue one.”

  2. Give each item a place on the list

A simple set of headings is enough: products in use, unopened spares, and items you're keeping separately. Put wishlist products somewhere else so they don't get mixed up with things you own.

You can also note where each item lives. This is especially handy for products split between a bathroom shelf, a gym bag, and another address. You don't need to rearrange your whole bathroom to make the list useful.

  3. Add only details you'll use

An opening date may be worth recording. So might “spare bottle in top drawer” or “packed for travel.” If you don't remember when you opened something, mark the date as unknown instead of filling in a guess.

Keep the product's own label for its storage and use instructions. An inventory is a record of your belongings; it doesn't replace those instructions.

  4. Check the list when something changes

Update it when you finish a product, open a spare, or put something in a travel bag. Before buying a replacement, check both the list and the cupboard. If you find a mismatch, correct the list while the product is in front of you.

A shelf entry can be this short

Example Brand Daily Cleanser, 150 ml
In use · bathroom shelf
Opened October 9
One unopened spare in the drawer

The product name above is a placeholder. You could keep the same information in four spreadsheet columns. Add more fields only when you find yourself looking for information the list doesn't hold.

My Shelf and Saved have different jobs

In Connie's Skin, Library → My Shelf holds your own products. Tap Add to add a product. The shelf also shows where a product is used in your routines, which helps when you're putting a weekly plan together.

Saved is for products you've bookmarked from Discover and want to return to later; you'll need to sign in to use it. Saving a product doesn't mean you own it. Keeping those two lists separate makes the answer to “Do I already have this?” easier to find.
